The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, as we will discover as the book progresses, is a Christian allegory. It is therefore somewhat surprising that the book starts with a figure from Roman mythology—a faun. In fact, the whole land of Narnia is entirely populated with figures from ancient, pagan religions and legends, as well as talking animals. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie are four siblings sent to live in the country with the eccentric Professor Kirke during World War II. In Lucy Steps Through the Wardrobe, Lucy wanders into a magical wardrobe and finds herself in the mysterious land know as Narnia. There, she meets Mr. Tumnus the Faun, who invites her to tea in his cave and tells her all about Narnia and the wicked White Witch, who has cast spell over the land making it always winter but never Christmas.

"This is the land of Narnia," said the Faun, "where we are now. And you - you have come from the wild woods of the west!" "I - I got in through the wardrobe in the spare room," said steps into the Professor's wardrobe - but steps out again into a snowy forest. Complete and unabridged on four CDs, read by Michael York “This is the land of Narnia,” said the Faun, “where we are now. And you – you have come from the wild woods of the west?” “I – I got in through the wardrobe in the spare room,” said Lucy. Lucy steps into the Professor’s wardrobe – but steps out again into a snowy forest/5(K).

Little sibs, take heart: Lucy may be the youngest of the four children in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but in many ways she's the most important.
